Fix “Date Not Detected” in Messenger or WhatsApp Chat Export

Use the correct display language without changing your real timezone, then restart and hard refresh Chrome.

Why date and time detection can fail

Chat Exporter Pro reads the date separators and timestamps that Messenger, WhatsApp Web and supported AI platforms display on the page. In some countries, languages or right-to-left interfaces, the platform uses a different regional format. The message text may still export correctly, but the extension can show “Date not detected.”

Important: Keep your actual timezone unchanged. The fix changes the display language only, not the real time of your messages.

Step-by-step regional compatibility fix

  1. Open Facebook or Messenger settings and change the interface language to English (US).
  2. Open Chrome Settings → Languages and set English (United States) as the preferred language.
  3. Keep your actual country timezone unchanged.
  4. Close and restart Chrome.
  5. Open Messenger or WhatsApp Web and press Ctrl + Shift + R for a hard refresh.
  6. Open Chat Exporter Pro, click Refresh, and run the export again.

Why this solution works

The English (US) interface gives the extension a more consistent date and timestamp pattern to read. This solution has successfully resolved regional date-detection problems for users in multiple countries.

If the problem continues

Contact support with a short screen recording showing the date separator and timestamp format visible in the conversation. Hide private message text, names, phone numbers and account information before recording.

Do not change the actual timezone: changing timezone can make displayed time confusing. Only update Facebook/Messenger and Chrome language settings.
